XING requires an authorised employer and one role per paid advert. A live advert cannot be repurposed for another vacancy or reactivated after expiry. Entry products are restricted by occupational level. Videos, third-party marks and images of people carry specific rights and hosting conditions, while discriminatory criteria remain prohibited.
Pre-publication checklist
XING publishes rules an advert has to meet, and an ad that misses one can be rejected after you have paid for it. The requirements below are the ones that change how you write the posting — the linked pages are the full and current version.
- One advert, one vacancy. Bundling several openings into a single post, or running an open call for applications, is not allowed.
- The entry-level product is limited to unskilled, semi-skilled and specialist roles. Putting a more senior role on it can be reclassified and billed at the higher tier's price.
- A live advert may not be re-pointed at a different role. Editing exists to correct mistakes, not to reuse the slot once the vacancy is filled.
- Once an advert expires or is archived it cannot be switched back on — the role has to go up again as a new advert.
- Video is added by linking to YouTube or Vimeo rather than uploaded, and can be turned down on content or technical grounds.
- Another company's logo or trademark may only appear if you hold the rights to it or have permission to use it.
- Photographs of people may only be published where the law allows it — in practice, with the consent of the people shown.
- The advert may not screen on protected characteristics. The policy names age, gender and gender identity, religion, ethnicity, race, national origin, disability and sexual orientation. Local employment law applies on top of this and is the stricter test in most markets.
- Whoever posts must be authorised by the company doing the hiring, and able to answer for the role.

Common rejection reasons and fixes
| Reason | What to change |
|---|---|
| The selected product is restricted to a lower occupational level than the role. | Move the vacancy to the eligible XING product before publication rather than risking a later tier adjustment. |
| The advert is reused for a different role or revived after it expires. | Create a new advert for the new or expired vacancy and keep the original record unchanged. |
| An image, logo or video lacks consent, rights or an approved host. | Remove the asset or document the necessary rights and use a video host accepted by XING's terms. |
Questions
Can a live XING advert be changed to a different vacancy?
No. XING's terms prohibit repurposing a live advert. A different vacancy needs a new posting.
Can an expired XING advert be reactivated?
No. Once the advert has expired or been archived, publish a fresh advert rather than reactivating the old one.
What happens if the XING product tier is too low for the role?
XING can reclassify the vacancy and charge the difference to the eligible higher tier. Check the occupational-level restriction before purchasing.
What media rights does a XING advert require?
Use an accepted video host, obtain consent from identifiable people and publish third-party logos or trademarks only when the employer holds the necessary rights.
